Director of Production Job Description:
The Director of Production will oversee the entire production process, from raw material sourcing to final product delivery. This role will involve managing a team of production professionals, meeting production targets, maintaining high-quality standards, and optimizing production efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical laser technology or precision manufacturing and a proven ability to manage end-to-end production.
Primary Qualifications:
- Lead and manage all aspects of production, including production planning, scheduling, and overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations.
- Develop and implement production strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and meet demand.
- Ensure the highest quality standards are maintained across all stages of production.
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and quality assurance teams to drive product improvements and address customer needs.
- Oversee production timelines, ensuring on-time delivery of products to clients.
- Manage and mentor the production team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production output, quality, and efficiency, adjusting as needed.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs of production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Develop and manage the production budget, tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effective production methods.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and technological advancements in manufacturing.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and manage inventory levels.
Must Have Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in production management, preferably within the optical laser, amplifier, or precision manufacturing industries.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Proven track record of improving production processes, reducing costs, and meeting production goals.
- In-depth knowledge of laser technology and manufacturing techniques is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve production related issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Experience with ERP systems and production management software is preferred.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (ISO, safety, etc.).
